THURSDAY, JULY 26, 2001 The Eastern Pequot Tribe of Connecticut will hold elections for new tribal leaders on Saturday. The tribe will be electing a chairman, vice chairman, secretary and treasurer. The tribe does not make public who is running until after members vote, which is done by secret ballot. The tribe is recognized in Connecticut. The tribe's federal status is currently in the public comment period and is the subject of a lawsuit brought by the state. Get the Story:
