MAY 25, 2001 Senator Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) will be heading three committees as a result of colleague Jim Jefford's Thursday decision to leave the Republican party. Inouye is ready to become chairman of the Indian Affairs Committee, Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, and the Commerce Telecommunications Subcomittee.
