Studies cite growth of gaming industry

Various studies show the growth of the gaming industry, both in Indian Country and beyond.

According to Christiansen Capital Advisors, Americans gambled $61.6 billion in 2000, up 5.7 percent from 1999. An additional $2.2 billion was bet online.

There are 221 tribes with gaming facilities, up from 157 in 1998. Some are Class II while others are Class III.
