Attempts to negotiate with six children who have holed themselves up in a rural Idaho home failed on Wednesday as officials for the third day in a row waited out the dispute.

The children, believed to be armed, began the standoff after their mother was arrested on child felony injury charges. They even sent out a pack of wild dogs to fend off authorities and are reportedly surviving on almost no food.

The noise of a local television station's helicopter is being blamed for the failed attempt at contact. The television station had no immediate response to a complaint made by the local sheriff's office.
