APRIL 20, 2001 The state of Utah today will file suit against the US Forest Service roadless forest initiative. The initiative was finalized in January, the last month of the Clinton administration. A number of Republican lawmakers, Western Governors, private industry groups, and at least one tribe oppose its implementation. The plan affects nearly 60 million acres of federal forest land, limiting road construction. In Utah, about 4 million acres are affected. Get the Story:
