FEBRUARY 9, 2001 An environmental group opposing the storage of nuclear waste on the Skull Valley Goshute Reservation in Utah has lost some of its high-profile leaders because they didn't to oppose other nuclear projects. Former US Senator Jake Garn, Sandy Mayor Tom Dolan, former Governor Norm Bangerter and state Senator Carlene Walker resigned from the board of Citizens Against Radioactive Waste. They said the group's decision to oppose other nuclear projects will lessen their impact on the Goshute project. Three bills have been proposed seeking to make it harder for companies who want to store nuclear waste at the proposed site. Private Fuel Storage, a consortium of utility companies, has contracted with the small tribe to locate the facility on their reservation. Get the Story:
