The United Methodist Church of Chicago has given a $10,000 grant to the Illinois chapter of the National Coalition on Racism in Sports and Media, a group fighting the Chief Illiniwek mascot of the University of Illinois.

The Coalition has been campaigning to get rid of the mascot and will use the grant to sponsor educational forums on the issue.
