A judge in Arizona has dismissed a lawsuit that was filed by a former business partner of the Hualapai Tribe.

Jim Brown accused former board members, executives and other people associated with the Grand Canyon Resort Corporation, which operates the tribe's popular Grand Canyon West tourist attraction, of breaching a contract. But Judge David K. Udall said the agreement calls for disputes to be heard in tribal court, The Kingman Daily-Miner reported.

Udall also determined that going forward in state court would violate the tribe's sovereignty, the paper said. The tribe was not named as a defendant, according to court documents, probably in an attempt to avoid the immunity issue.

Jim Brown used to operate the Hualapai Ranch that is part of Grand Canyon West. It's remains under the control of the tribe's corporation.

Grand Canyon West also includes the popular Skywalk that hangs over the Grand Canyon.
