Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump easily won their respective primaries in New York on Tuesday.

Clinton, who served as a Senator from the state, defeated rival Bernie Sanders with nearly 58 percent of the vote, according to The New York Times. Trump, who lives in New York City, trounced John Kasich and Ted Cruz with 60 percent of the vote.

Clinton and Trump are both leading in delegate counts, according to The Times, and both remain confident that they will win their respective party's nominations. But their rivals have shown no signs of letting up and the race is expected to continue as the conventions approach.

Republicans are holding their convention in Cleveland, Ohio, from July 18-21. According to The Hill, vulnerable candidates have been warned to stay away from the event in order to avoid any associations with Trump and with the potential battle for delegates that could erupt on the floor.

Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) will be among those skipping the convention, The Hill reported. He is facing a tough re-election battle against Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Arizona), whose campaign repeatedly boasts that he's in trouble.

The Democratic convention will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from July 25-28.
