The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians has made a number of improvements at its golf resort in North Carolina.

The tribe bought the Sequoyah National Golf Club in 2014 but the poor conditions at the course drew numerous complaints, The Smoky Mountain News reported. Consumers are much more happy now that Sequoia Golf Management is running the facility.

The tribe has been subsidizing the course with an annual contribution of $1.2 million and a $500,000 line of credit, the paper reported. But the financial outlook is improving along with the management.

"[W]e’re on pace to have potentially the best year ever,” manager Kenny Cashwell told the paper.
