The Suquamish Tribe has negotiated an agreement to enforce Washington state laws on the reservation.

The memorandum of understanding would allow tribal police officers to arrest arrest and detain non-Indians. Offenders would be prosecuted in Kitsap County.

The agreement needs the vote of the tribal council and the county commission to become effective, The North Kitsap Herald reported.
