Derek Bailey, a former chairman of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians in Michigan, was hit with additional sex crime charges on Thursday. Prosecutors in Grand Traverse County filed two charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct against Bailey. Those are in addition to the three counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct he's already facing in Leelanau County for allegedly abusing minors. Bailey, 42, is also being accused of being a sexually delinquent person, another felony, in Grand Traverse County. If convicted on that charge alone, the maximum sentence is life in prison, according to news reports. Bailey was sitting on the tribal council when he was first charged in May. He resigned his post, effective July 2. Bailey served as chairman of the tribe from 2008 to 2012. He's due to go to trial in November in the Leelanau County case. Get the Story:
