The Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is building a $16.5 million nursing home that should be ready for occupants early next year. The 51,000 square-foot facility near Whiteclay, Nebraska, will house 60 people. It will allow elders to live closer to their families rather than stay in nursing homes farther away. "Now that we can bring ‘em back, they can go see ‘em all the time," Duane Brewer of the Oglala Sioux Lakota Nursing Home Board told NET News.

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota loaned the tribe $13.5 million for the project, NET News reported. The tribe kicked in another $3 million. Get the Story:
