The House Natural Resources Committee will begin an open markup session this afternoon on seven bills.

One tribal bill and one Alaska Native bill are on the agenda. They are:
H.R.387, the Economic Development Through Tribal Land Exchange Act. The bill authorizes a land swap to place 41 acres in trust for the Morongo Band of Mission Indians in California. A hearing has not been held on the bill but an identical version passed the House during the 113th Congress. The bill consolidates the tribe's land holdings within the reservation, according to the markup memo.
H.R.521, a bill to benefit the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Alaska. The House Subcommittee Indian, Insular and Alaska Native Affairs held a hearing on the bill on April 14. It requires the Indian Health Service to convey the 23-acre site of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital and other facilities in Bethel to the corporation, according to the hearing memo. The corporation plans a $250 million renovation and expansion of the Bethel hospital and campus.

The markup begins this afternoon in Room 1324 of the Longworth House Office Building at 4pm. It will continue tomorrow at 11am. Both sessions will be webcast.
