Restaurant apologizes for racial comment to Native filmmaker

Earls Restaurants apologized to a Native filmmaker after a server made a racial comment about Native people in British Columbia.

Laura Milliken, who is Ojibwe. was eating at an Earls in Prince George when the server blamed a high rate of crime on Native people -- more specifically, Native homeless people. She said the server apologized when Milliken informed her she was Native too.

"I don't think that this young lady is racist," Milliken told CBC News. "I think she said the wrong thing."

Earls apologized to Milliken and said it has will hold sensitivity training for staff.
