A motorcycle run will be held on Sunday to benefit a Navajo Nation police officer who was injured on the job.

James Hale was shot in the leg on March 19 in an incident that resulted in the death of his colleague Alex Yazzie. The 42-year-old Yazzie was laid to rest on March 27.

Hale was due to be released from the hospital this week but his condition hasn't been reported at the request of his family. His benefit ride will run from Shiprock, New Mexico, to Teec Nos Pos, Arizona, and then back down to Shiprock through Colorado, The Farmington Daily Times reported.

Another officer, Herbert Frazier, was also shot in the leg and was released from the hospital last week. He is recovering at home, the Times reported.

The suspect in the shooting was 26-year-old Justin Fowler, who was killed during the incident.
