Oglala Lakota rejoins Rapid City Police

Native Sun News Staff Writer RAPID CITY –– The Rapid City Police Department has hired nine new officers; an Oglala Lakota man is a returning face to the police force. Officer Mitchell Brewer is from Rapid City and earned his bachelor’s degree in human services from Oglala Lakota College. He most recently served as a health technician at Sioux San Hospital, and previously served two years as a RCPD officer. The other eight officers added to the force are: Officer Tyler Kath is from Rapid City and graduated from Stevens High School. He previously served in the U.S. Marine Corps and as a correctional officer for the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office. Officer Nicholas Allender was raised in Spearfish, and graduated from Spearfish High School. He earned his associate’s degree in law enforcement from Western Dakota Technical Institute. He previously interned with the Rapid City Police Department and served as a RCPD Cadet. Officer Brendan Lenard graduated from Bozeman High School in Bozeman, Mont. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Montana State University, and most recently worked at the Gallatin County Detention Center in Bozeman. Officer Jacob LeLaCheur was raised in Rapid City and graduated from Central High School. He most recently worked at Pauly’s Pizzeria in Rapid City, and has been a long-time member of the RCPD Cadet Program. Officer Ralph Dupres graduated from Central High School and earned his associate’s degree in paramedics from Western Dakota Technical Institute. He most recently worked as a flight paramedic at Medical Air Rescue in Rapid City. Officer Anthony Picket Pin is from Alliance, Neb. He earned his associate’s degree in criminal justice from the Western Dakota Technical Institute, and has been serving as a RCPD Community Service Officer for one year. Officer Andrew Randazzo graduated from Central High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in human services from Black Hills State University. He recently worked as a firefighter for Structure Protection Specialists in Rapid City, and previously completed an internship with the RCPD. Officer Brendan McMillan is from Wheaton, Ill. He graduated from Forest Academy in Wheaton, and earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Wheaton College. He most recently served as a border patrol agent in Texas.
