A leadership dispute within the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma remains unresolved even after the resignation of one of the key players in the feud.

Anthony Cotter ran for chairman last summer and was defeated. But he won a special election in March that was called by one faction of the tribe.

His short term came to an end this week after he was accused of embezzling funds in connection with his salary as chair. At issue was just a few hundred dollars but the tribe's money is supposed to be managed by an independent administrator.

"I cannot continue in good faith to be a part to this turmoil and chaos," Cotter said on Facebook.

The tribal constitution requires another special election to be called. But Brenda Shemayme Edwards still continues to claim the position of chair.
