House panel considers Alaska Native and Pueblo bills at markup





The House Natural Resources Committee will hold a markup session this Thursday.

Three bills of interest are on the agenda. They are:
H.R. 1103, a bill to recognize the Alexander Creek Village in Alaska under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. The House Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs held a hearing on the bill on July 23, 2013. The Bureau of Indian Affairs testified against the measure.
H.R.3110, the Huna Tlingit Traditional Gull Egg Use Act. The bill allows for the harvest of gull eggs by the Huna Tlingit people within Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska. The subcommittee held a hearing on the bill on February 5. The administration supports the bill.
H.R.3605, the Sandia Pueblo Settlement Technical Amendment Act. The bill enables Sandia Pueblo in New Mexico to finalize a land exchange that was authorized by the T'uf Shur Bien Preservation Trust Area Act of 2003. The subcommittee held a hearing on the bill on February 5. The administration supports the bill.

The markup takes place at 10am in Room 1324 of the Longworth House Office Building.
