After a late start, the House Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs held a hearing this afternoon on two tribe-specific bills.

Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska), the chairman of the subcommittee, said both bills were non-controversial. H.R.3110, the Huna Tlingit Traditional Gull Egg Use Act, allows for the harvest of gull eggs by the Huna Tlingit people within Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska while H.R.3605, the Sandia Pueblo Settlement Technical Amendment Act, enables Sandia Pueblo in New Mexico to finalize a land exchange that was authorized by the T'uf Shur Bien Preservation Trust Area Act of 2003.

The Obama administration testified in support of both measures at the hearing, which lasted about 30 minutes.
