Judge promises decision over auction of tribal items in France

A judge in France held a hearing today to discuss a controversial auction where Hopi cultural items are due to be sold.

The Hopi Tribe of Arizona says the items being offered by the Néret-Minet auction house were stolen. The auction house has claimed the items were acquired legally.

The judge has promised a ruling before the start of the auction tomorrow, the Associated Press reported.
