Colville Tribes amend code to recognize same-sex marriages

The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation in Washington are the latest to join the marriage equality movement in Indian Country.

The council voted to amend the tribe's domestic code to recognize all marriages on the reservation. “They’ve always been accepted," Chairman Michael Finley told The Wenatchee World, referring to gay and lesbian people.

The tribe is the sixth in Indian Country to recognize same-sex marriages.
