Audio from Senate Indian Affairs Committee's hearing on bills

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee held a legislative hearing this afternoon on three bills.

Two of the bills are largely non-controversial. The Obama administration testified in support of S.235, to transfer property from the federal government to the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, and S.920, to allow the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in Minnesota to lease or transfer certain land.

The third bill is a more complex measure -- S.1352, the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Reauthorization Act of 2013. The law is due to expire on September 30 so the committee has moved quickly to consider the bill.

The hearing lasted about an hour. Audio can be found on the Indianz.Com SoundCloud.
