Leader of Oneida Nation of Wisconsin faces removal petition
Posted: Wednesday, July 24, 2013
Members of the
Oneida
Nation of Wisconsin are circulating a petition to remove Chairman Ed Delgado from office.
The petition claims Delgado has mismanaged the tribe's finances. But his supporters say he's being targeted because he opposed a controversial renewable energy project that was proposed by
Oneida Seven Generations Corp., the tribe's economic development corporation.
“It has entered my mind,” Delgado told The Green Bay Press-Gazette of the potential connection between OSGC and the petition.
Delgado's supporters led the effort to kill the project and now they are trying to dissolve the OSGC. Delgado hasn't publicly said whether the corporation should stay.
