Senate Indian Affairs Committee to hold hearing on two bills





The Senate Indian Affairs Committee holds its first legislative hearing of the 113th Congress on Wednesday.

The committee will consider S.434, the Blackfeet Water Rights Settlement Act. It ratifies a water rights compact between the Blackfeet Nation and the state of Montana.

Also on the agenda is S.611, the Sandia Pueblo Settlement Technical Amendment Act. It would authorize a land exchange between Sandia Pueblo and the federal government in an area that was created Congress by the T'uf Shur Bien Preservation Trust Area Act of 2003.

The hearing takes place at 2:30pm in Room 628 of the Senate Dirksen Office Building. The witness list follows:
