Winnebago Tribe turning to technology to keep language alive

The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska is turning to technology to keep its language alive for future generations.

Lewis “Bleu” St. Cyr is a media specialist for the tribe's Ho-Chunk Renaissance Program. He recently attended a workshop hosted by Thornton Media Inc. to learn how to develop language applications that can be used on iPhones, iPads and other devices.

"The world is moving so fast with technology, and our youth are the ones who are going to carry the language on,” St. Cyr told the Associated Press. “I think it’s received pretty well.”
