Colville Tribes sign deal to open timber mill that closed in 2009

The
Confederated Tribes of
the Colville Reservation signed a deal to reopen a timber mill that closed in 2009.
Wood Resources agreed to a 25-year lease for the plywood mill in Omak.
The company will use timber from the the tribe's forest lands and will hire as many as 200 people to work at the facility.
"The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation and CTFC are excited to partner with Wood Resources to bring back jobs for the Tribes and the community," John Sirois, the chairman of the tribal business council, said in a press release. "This long term agreement will provide for sustainable mill operations and timber management in our forests, as well as needed employment opportunities for tribal members."
