Comanche Nation disputes county efforts to tax certain businesses

The Comanche Nation of Oklahoma is disputing a county's attempt to tax some of its businesses.

The tribe operates about a dozen businesses on land that's not yet in trust. The Comanche County sent a property tax bill to the tribe, which was paid, The Lawton Constitution reported.

A second bill, however, hasn't been paid. Dennis Woommavovah, the tribe's director of realty, said the tribe is currently trying to have the properties in question placed in trust.
