Ex-leader faces genocide charge for massacre at Indian village

Efrain Rios Montt, a former president and dictator of Guatemala, will face a charge of genocide for ordering the massacre of an Indian village.

A judge said Rios Montt could be held responsible for the December 6, 1982, attack on Dos Erres. More than 200 Indian men, women and children were killed by soldiers.

Rios Montt is already facing a genocide charge for causing the displacement of 29,000 Indians and the killings of 1,771 Mayans during the country's civil war, the Associated Press reported.
