'Eskimo Warrior' makes mark on martial-arts fighting scene





Avery Vilche, also known as the "Eskimo Warrior," is making her mark on the d mixed-martial-arts fighting scene despite her small size and stature.

Vilche, 41, is part Yup’ik. She stands 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 125 pounds.

"All my life I have been drawn to fighting," Vilche told The Chico News & Review.

Vilche won a gold medal at the 2008 World Eskimo-Indian Olympics. She also was a Golden Gloves Champion and an International Kickboxing Federation bantamweight champ.

Her next fight takes place tomorrow in North Carolina.
