The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians is contributing an extra $50,000 to charities in Oregon.
The tribe regularly shares money with non-profits. The extra money will help a number of charities in Douglas County, including the Salvation Army and the Roseburg Rescue Mission.
"The single biggest reason why women come to the mission is domestic violence, and this economy that we are in right now, has made that stress on family even greater," Lynn Antis, the executive director of the mission, said at a press conference, KPIC News reported.
