House subcommittee sets hearing on BIA, OST budgets
The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior will hold a hearing on Thursday to examine the fiscal year 2011 budget request for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians.

Assistant Secretary Larry Echo Hawk, the head of the BIA, and Donna Erwin, the acting Special Trustee, are scheduled to testify. The hearing takes place at 2pm in Room B308 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

President Barack Obama has requested $2.5 billion for the BIA, about $53 million below current levels. The OST request is $160 million, about $26 million below current levels.
