County ends foreclosure proceedings on Cayuga land
Legislators in Cayuga County, New York, voted to withdraw foreclosure proceedings against the Cayuga Nation, but they could pick up the issue in the future.

The county says the tribe owes $34,656 on two properties. But legislators decided to drop proceedings in response to a court decision in another tribal foreclosure case.

Oneida County is pursuing an appeal against the Oneida Nation. “There's just no point in doing this whole thing until it's settled,” Legislator Christopher Palermo, the chairman of the Cayuga County Ways and Means Committee, told The Auburn Citizen.

Both tribes are seeing to have land within their original reservation boundaries placed in trust.
