Alaska Native man to plead guilty in hunt case
Thursday, October 29, 2009

One of the Alaska Native men charged for violating state hunting laws will plead guilty for shooting more than 100 caribou and leaving many to waste.

Randy John Oktollik, 26, told The Anchorage Daily News he is innocent of the charges. He is pleading guilty to put the case behind him, he said.

"It wasn't that bad," he said of the alleged mass slaughter.

The Native village of Point Hope has publicly supported the hunters and the North Slope Borough donated $7,000 to each of them for the case. State troopers accused village residents of not wanting to cooperate with the investigation.
