ACLU opposes Tohono O'odham Nation jail facility
The American Civil Liberties Union of Arizona is asking the Obama administration to prevent the Tohono O'odham Nation from building a jail facility on the reservation.

The ACLU says the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, an agency of the Department of Homeland Security, should impose a moratorium on all immigration detention centers due to human and civil rights violations. The tribe plans to house immigrants at its facility.

The tribe's project generated significant opposition off the reservation. Tribal leaders decided to move the facility to a different location.
