Wilton Rancheria announces federal restoration
The Wilton Rancheria of California plans a press conference on Monday to announce its restoration to federal recognition.

The Me-Wuk Indian Community of the Wilton Rancheria sued the Interior Department in February 2007, alleging it was wrongfully terminated. The Wilton Miwok Rancheria later joined the lawsuit.

Both groups reached a settlement with the federal government and will be recognized as a single tribe. The announcement is planned for Monday morning at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel in Sacramento.
