Pala Band wins FCC approval for radio station
The Pala Band of Mission Indians plans to set up a radio station on its reservation in southern California.

The tribe won a license from the Federal Communications Commission to start the station. It will broadcast noncommercial, educational and emergency information.

"The station will be an invaluable tool for community development, sovereignty and governmental support; not just in times of need, but all year long," said tribal council member Kilma Lattin, The North County Times reported.
