Groups organize to defeat Democratic labor bill
Groups being backed by major corporations are planning a multi-million dollar lobbying campaign to defeat a labor bill that is a priority for Democrats in the 111th Congress.

Corporations say the Employee Free Choice Act will be bad for business. They are opposed to provisions that will make it easier for unions to organize among employees.

Some lobbyists and attorneys have warned tribes about the bill because the National Labor Relations Board is asserting jurisdiction over tribal enterprises, even those that are located on reservations. Democrats in Congress have opposed efforts to shield tribes from federal labor law.
