Wisconsin AG says tribal police records not public
The office of Wisconsin attorney general J.B. Van Hollen says tribal police records aren't public.

The Lakeland Times asked whether citizens can request police and incident records from tribal police. The AG said tribes aren't covered by the state's open records laws because they aren't state entities. The tribes are also protected by sovereign immunity, the AG's office said.

Some citizens have requested tribal police documents for being stopped by officers of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in Oneida County. The tribe and the county recently requested a legal opinion that said the tribes aren't covered by the state's mutual assistance law.
