The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina will hold an election on November 18 amid a dispute between the council and the election board.

The council cut funds to the election board over a proposed amendments to the constitution. A referendum hasn't been held even though the amendments were proposed two years ago.

Without money, the election board said it couldn't hold any elections. But the board received funds from the tribe’s nonprofit corporation to hold the vote.

Ten people have filed for four seats on the council.
