A federal judge says he has jurisdiction to hear a banishment case involving the Snoqualmie Tribe of Washington. The tribe banished nine people, including former chairman Bill Sweet and some of his political allies. Another 40 people were disenrolled. The sitting tribal council disputes the jurisdiction of the federal court but Judge James Robart said he has authority to hear the dispute.
