Navajo president vetoes purchase of Gallup hotel
Navajo President Joe Shirley Jr. vetoed legislation to authorize the purchase of a hotel in Gallup, New Mexico.

Shirley said the $6.6 million of the Inn of Gallup was a high risk. He said the facility would require $2.6 million in renovations.

The Navajo Nation Council approved the purchase last month. Delegates said the hotel could be used to bring guests to and from the tribe's forthcoming casino in Churchrock, near Gallup.
