Former Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colorado) will lobby Senate Republicans on S.310, a bill to extend the policy of self-determination to Native Hawaiians.
Campbell, a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana, was hired by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Campbell works for the Holland & Knight firm in Washington, D.C., though the lobbying work is being done under a subcontract with Patton Boggs, another firm.
Supporters of the bill hope for final passage before President Bush leaves office. Republicans have opposed the measure.
