Democrats expect over 100 Indian delegates

The Democratic National Committee is expecting more than 100 Indian delegates at the party's convention this August.

Frank LaMere, a member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska who chairs the Democrat Party's Native American Coordinating Council, said the 2008 convention will see record numbers of American Indians and Alaska Natives. On the other, he says the number of Indian delegates at the Republican convention can be counted on one hand.

The convention takes place August 25-28 in Denver, Colorado.
