Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to honor state judgments

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is the first tribe in South Dakota to recognize judgments made in the state courts.

The tribe adopted a rule to recognize court rulings from state jurisdictions. In exchange, the state will recognize and honor tribal court judgments.

"It is my belief that the preservation and expansion of the sovereignty of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation depends upon the respect of our fellow sovereigns as well," Standing Rock Chief Judge William Zuger said in a statement as reported by The Rapid City Journal reported.
