House Resources Committee markup on Indian bills

UPDATE
After a delay of more than one hour, the committee started the markup. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-West Virginia), however, said the two Michigan off-reservation gaming/land claim settlement bills will not be considered. "I will not call up those bills today," the chairman said.

The House Natural Resources Committee is holding a markup today on seven bills.

Three of the bills affect tribes:
H.R. 2176: To provide for and approve the settlement of certain land claims of the Bay Mills Indian Community.
H.R. 4115: To provide for and approve the settlement of certain land claims of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
H.R. 3739: To amend the Arizona Water Settlements Act to modify the requirements for the statement of findings.
The markup starts at 11am and will be broadcast at http://resourcescommittee.house.gov
