Native girl, mother harassed after hate crime

The mother of a 13-year-old Native girl who was the victim of a hate crime says they have been constantly harassed sine the September 12 incident.

The girl was assaulted by six people in Lewiston, Idaho, who were making comments about "white pride" and "white power." The mother testified that she feared for her life.

"I thought they were going to attack us because we were Native American, because we were the only Native Americans on the street at that time, and the rest were white," the mother said in court, The Lewiston Tribune reported.

The mother said they have moved twice since the incident. The girl has transferred to another school.

A 40-year-old woman and her son and daughter, along with three other people, have been charged in connection with the attack.
