Husband charged with Potawatomi woman's death

A 25-year-old man was charged in federal court with second degree murder for the death of Loretta Lea Wandahsega, a member of the Hannahville Indian Community of Michigan.

Derek Joseph Linklater is accused of killing Wandahsega after they got married at Wandahsega's home on the reservation. Her body was found July 12. She died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Linklater is from Ontario, Canada. In the federal court indictment, he is described as a "non-Indian."

Wandahsega, 34, worked for the tribe and once served on the tribal council. She is survived by five siblings and a 7-year-old son.
