Montana reservation man guilty of abuse

A man from the Northern Cheyenne Reservation was found guilty of sexually abusing a young girl seven years ago, The Billings Gazette reports.

Willie James Sequi Sr., 57, was charged with aggravated sexual abuse with a 12-year-old girl. The incident occurred sometime in 1999 or 2000 on the reservation.

Sequi admitted he was responsible through a written confession. But he testified that he didn't commit the crime and was scared and intimidated during the FBI interview. The girl, now 16, testified about the abuse she suffered when she was 9 or 10 years old.

District Judge William Fremming Nielsen set sentencing for September 6.
