Martha Stewart wants to trademark chief's name

Martha Stewart is seeing opposition to her petition to trademark the name of a Lenape chief.

Stewart moved to the village of Katonah after she served her prison term. Now her company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, wants to trademark the name for business ventures.

"If I wanted to trademark `Martha Stewart' and put out a line of tea towels, she would have me in court very quickly," activist Suzan Harjo told the Associated Press.

The Village Improvement Society in Katonah opposes the move. So do members of the Ramapough Lenape Indian Nation of New Jersey, along with leaders and representatives of New York tribes.
